• Support to the processes related to the main resources of the organizational entity (i.e. budgets, manpower, staffing), including planning, execution and follow-up of the activities and resources (budgets, manpower, missions, recharges) of the Business Unit.
• Support to the planning, preparation, execution and follow-up of activities and related procurement actions as relevant managed by the Business Unit and of associated progress in terms of output / schedule / resources.

Working Team

The key person shall work in the TSS Department as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Division. The Mission Control Applications and Tools Team performs the following activities:

• Software engineering and software maintenance of multi-mission and mission-specific Mission Control Function systems and tools for GEO and LEO missions. In particular the following systems and tools:
  • Monitoring and Control Systems and tools,
  • On-board software management tools,
  • Flight Dynamics Facilities,
  • Mission Planning Facilities,
  • OpsPrep Facilities,
  • Data analysis and reporting tools,

The SRE-O Computer Support Group (CSG) is providing computer support to all science operations centres and science ground segments located at ESAC, either in development or in operational phase. Under this work package service shall be provided to support ESA in system administration activities for those computer systems used for science operations and research activities. These computers are general servers or workstations mainly based on Linux and Sun Solaris, Macintoshes, PC for Office Automation activities.  

A Rover Systems Engineer is required with several years of engineering experience in the field of mobile robotic platforms and sub-systems in space, from design and development, through the launch and cruise phases, to EDL and surface operations. 

The Key Person shall be responsible for overall system engineering tasks associated with the rover platform, the scientific payload and the drill. In this area of work, the tasks will typically include:

• Requirements and function definition
• Interface specification and control
• Design trades and documentation
• Resource, margin and risk management
• Verification and validation

A Rover Mobility Systems Engineer is required with several years of engineering experience in the field of electronic, mechanical and system aspects relevant to the mobility of a surface rover. 

The Key Person shall be responsible for overall system engineering tasks associated with ensuring autonomous navigation of the rover to selected targets of scientific interest. In this area of work, the tasks will typically include:

• Requirements and function definition
• Interface specification and control
• Design trades and documentation
• Resource, margin and risk management
• Verification and validation

A Product Assurance Engineer is required with several years of engineering experience in the field of product assurance for assembly, integration and testing activities in space related industry. 

The Key Person shall provide support to the ESA Product Assurance Manager in conducting, monitoring and assessing the implementation of the PA plan for all AIT related activities defined for preparation of planetary spacecraft and payload elements.  

A Descent Module Control and Data Management Systems Engineer is required with several years of engineering experience in the design and development of spacecraft structures and sub-systems needed to survive the EDL phase of a planetary mission.

The Key Person shall be responsible for system engineering tasks related to the complex procedures and closed-loop feedback systems required to guide a planetary lander through entry, descent and landing.  

A Carrier Module Systems Engineer is required with several years of engineering experience in the field of spacecraft structures and sub-systems used to transport payloads on interplanetary trajectories. 

The Key Person shall be responsible for system engineering tasks related to the monitoring and operation of the carrier module in cruise phase of the mission. In this area of work, the tasks will typically include:

• Requirements and function definition
• Interface specification and control
• Design trades and documentation
• Resource, margin and risk management
• Verification and validation

The main tasks are:

Refinement and completion of Thermal Control Subsystem (TCS) design during the Phase C/D of ExoMars:

• Refining and extending existing thermal model of S/C
• Running thermal analysis for all scenarios
• Interpreting results of thermal analysis to modify and refine thermal design (especially thermal hardware (heaters, sensors, MLI) used for controlling propulsion subsystem

The main tasks are:

AIT for completely integrated Mechanical, Thermal & Propulsion (MTP) subsystems for the ExoMars 2016 project:

• Preparation of mechanical assembly and integration procedures
• Mechanical assembly and integration of structural items (Central Tube, Panels, Support Structure) by means of fasteners

The Control Systems and Sensors section has the following roles and responsibilities:

• Definition and implementation of AOCS (Attitude and Orbit Control Systems) for Earth Observation, Telecom, Navigation satellites and for Astronomy Observatories.
  The functional support provided to these projects (e.g. Sentinel, Earth Care, MTG, Alphasat, Small GEO, Galileo, GAIA, Solar Orbiter, …) includes: 

The Key Person will be integrated into the INR and Calibration Section, which provides support for the EPS-SG Programme in the area of INR and geometrical processing. The general task of the Key Person will be to support the INR aspects within the developing activities of the EPS-SG Programme. Primarily the activities have the objective to establish and maintain the knowledge needed to support the INR processing as part of the mission data processing functionality both for on-line and off-line functions. 

The work covers support to the development and maintenance of IT applications in the field of Management Support Systems (MIS), as well as support to the utilization and operations of office productivity tools and related infrastructure. As such it covers:

• Definition, design, development and maintenance of specific MIS tools (mainly local or shared databases), including production and maintenance of associated documentation.

The main objective of this job is to provide the necessary support for an environment that is based on MicroStrategy, a business intelligence platform and that integrates data from several sources and allows for the setting up of reports in an easily accessible way.

The Key Person will be integrated within the PRS Division into the Configuration, Documentation and Information Management Team for GEO Programmes. The general task of the Key Person will be to provide support and advice to the GEO Configuration, Documentation and Information Manager as Configuration Management Engineer.
