RHEA is awared ESA / ESRIN ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT SUPPORT CONTRACT (EMS)
RHEA System S.A. (RHEA) is proud to announce that the European Space Agency (ESA) has awarded to RHEA the Engineering and Management (EMS) support Contract at ESA/ESRIN in Frascati, ITALY. The Contract effective start date was 1 August 2010.
Throughout this Contract RHEA will provide satellite ground segment engineering services for the next three to five years to ESA to support the design and implementation of all ESA Earth Observation satellites payload data ground segments foreseen in the next few years.
The spectrum of technical activities for this Contract primarily relates to the following areas:
- EARTH Explorer Support – Supporting ESRIN EPO-G in the design and implementation of all Payload Data Ground Segments related to all ESA Earth Observation satellites
- Multi Mission Ground Segment and Mission Support – Supporting ESRIN EPO-G in Mission Management and related activities
- GMES Space Component – Data Access (GSC-DA) / Sentinels – Supporting ESRIN OPS-G in the GMES Sentinels Data Access.
- Management Support – Support to ESRIN OPS-G management.
ESA provides Earth Observation data to an international community of scientists, researchers and governments and has increasing importance in using such data to measure climate change, forestry, gravity, Oceanography, Ice melt, atmospheric changes and a host of other applications that are important to the lives of people on planet earth.
Currently under development are systems for future EARTHcare, SWARM, AEOLUS and SEOSAT satellites together with the future Sentinel and Earth Explorer missions.
Within the technical scope of this Contract, RHEA is invested with the responsibility of supporting ESA in ensuring that all the payload data ground segment systems are in place, integrated and tested before satellite launch.

This Contract estimated value is in excess of €12M.
