Satellite Operations
Since its inception, RHEA has been providing both system engineering services and software solutions to ESOC, EUMETSAT, DLR and CNES for spacecraft operations.
At ESOC and EUMETSAT, RHEA provides spacecraft operations engineering services for both on-going and future missions in the following activities:
- Operations Engineering
- Mission Planning
- Mission Analysis
- Mission Control
- Ground Segment Operations
- Flight Dynamics
RHEA can provide support during the different mission phases: mission preparation, pre-launch simulation, Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP), commissioning, routine, contingency, recovery operations and close-down of the mission.
RHEA’s software tool, MOIS (Manufacturing and Operations Information System), supports procedure preparation, validation and execution for all ESA missions at ESOC in Darmstadt, and for critical missions in EUMETSAT, DLR and CNES. Examples of these missions include Envisat, MSG-1 and 2, CryoSat-2, Hershel and Planck, ATV, GOCE, Metop and future missions such as GMES and Galileo.
RHEA’s user base, in excess of 400 registered spacecraft engineers and managers, is supported directly by the RHEA operational support team. This team provides on-site service during critical campaigns and customer helplines throughout the year.
