RHEA is selected for the ESOC Engineering Manpower Support (EMS) Frame Contract 2011-2015 (EFC-1)
Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 5 July 2011 - RHEA System S.A. (RHEA) has qualified for the Engineering Manpower Support (EMS) Frame Contract – Ground Stations Domain 2011-2015 at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany.
RHEA is part of a consortium with TERMA and TCP Sistemas e Ingenieria S.L. (TCPSI). RHEA’s demonstrated experience in ground segment operations engineering, mission analysis, mission planning, mission control, ground segment operations and flight dynamics was beneficial for winning this contract. RHEA well established track record at ESOC is again re-confirmed through this new Contract. RHEA has been supporting ESOC activities in various areas of engineering, including in particular through the use of RHEA’s software tool MOIS (Manufacturing and Operations Information System) which supports procedure preparation, validation and execution for all ESA missions at ESOC. MOIS is a key element of ESOC’s ground segment infrastructure and is developed and maintained exclusively by RHEA.
For this new contract RHEA qualifies for the following technical domains:
- Ground Station Domain – including ground station systems and ground segment data infrastructure system domains related to ground station.
- Data Systems Domain – ground segment data infrastructure system domain not related to ground station, and mission-specific data systems and new applications domain.
- Astrodynamics Domain – including the flight dynamics systems, navigation and space debris domains.
“We are extremely pleased to continue supporting ESOC providing a broader range of engineering competencies”, said Simon Reid, RHEA’s Chief Engineer. “Our engineers have supported ESOC in most operations domains contributing to optimize the efficiency of ESA spacecraft operations. This new contract consolidates our on-going commitment of more than 15 years to ESOC supporting their activities.”
