MOIS Validator

Although called the MOIS Procedure Validator this application is also the user interface for manual and semi-automatic execution of Procedures.

Validator provides full execution control, whether the Procedure is connected to a test harness, simulator or the spacecraft via the SCOS 2000 control system. The operator can choose whether to execute one step at a time, or pre-define break points at which execution should halt. A halted execution may be resumed from the same point, or a different point to resume from can be selected. The status and results of each step or statement are shown in real-time on the procedure table display (e.g. telemetry values and command verification statuses). In addition there are several other windows and dialogue boxes for displaying monitoring information or interacting with the data.

Validator is designed to both simplify the validation process itself and record the results. Its online interface displays a selected procedure in a simultaneous text-based view (produced by Writer) and a flow chart display (from Flowcharter). The procedure can then be executed and tested in one of three modes:

  • Manual - a stand-alone mode with step-by-step validation under full user control;
  • Semi-automatic - with user control of parameter values when connected to Test Harness;
  • Automatic – with little or no user intervention. Note that since Procedure execution is independent of the Validator user interface it can be closed and re-attached to the Procedure (or any other running Procedure).

The latter two modes require Validator to be run in conjunction with Executor in order to transmit telecommands and receive telemetry.
