The European Global Navigation Satellite Systems Agency (GSA) is taking over the operations and service provision of Galileo from 2017. RHEA Group is supporting the GSA with the needed engineering expertise to ensure the handover of operations from ESA starting December 2016.

The GSA is currently responsible for a range of activities related to the European GNSS programs (Galileo and EGNOS), including the commercialization and exploitation of the systems, the security accreditation, and the establishment and operation of the Galileo Security Monitoring Centers (GSMC). Moreover, the agency is managing EU GNSS Framework Program Research and promoting satellite navigation applications and services.

Since 2012, RHEA Group is providing expert engineering services to support the GSA in the exploitation of Galileo and EGNOS programs. We are currently looking for the most talented scientist and engineers to join our teams at GSA:

About Galileo and EGNOS

The already operational European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) is Europe’s first venture into satellite navigation and paves the way for Galileo, Europe’s independent global satellite navigation system. As a satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS), EGNOS improves the accuracy of basic satellite navigation signals in Europe such as those of the USA’s Global Positioning System (GPS). This makes GPS suitable for safety critical applications such as aviation or maritime navigation.

Galileo is Europe’s civil global satellite navigation system. It will allow users worldwide to know their exact position in time and space with great precision and reliability. Once complete, the system will consist of 24 operational satellites and the ground infrastructure for the provision of positioning, navigation and timing services. The deployment of the Initial Operational Services has been foreseen for 2017.
