RHEA Group is currently recruiting a Business Developer to support the growth of a key project related to Climate, Meteorology, Agriculture, Satellite Earth Observation data and also Hydrology modeling.

The project is intended to evolve into a sustainable service and will have an overseas governmental customer as an anchor user combined with various commercial users as customers.  The objective is to expand and offer services in other countries.

This position dual reports to the RHEA Group Director of Business Development Products & Solutions and to the Harwell Project Manager. This position will be based at the RHEA Group offices in Harwell, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.

Tasks and Activities
  • Identify business opportunities with existing and new clients in the public and private sector

  • Develop and maintain specific focussed client relationships

  • Coordinate the evolution of the project into a product based business

  • Support the central co-ordination of the project related business development activities from a variety of global locations, with other Business Development staff and Project Manager(s)

  • Contribute and assist in the preparation of offers and proposals to customers in liaison with RHEA Group’s Bid Management team

  • Create and maintain a pipeline of sales leads

  • Ensure leads are properly qualified and ensure the RHEA Group Sales lifecycle is adhered to for all proposals

  • Support negotiation of resulting contracts and close deals

  • Achieve the business development targets that are set.

  • Provide regular reports of progress to the Director of Business Development and the Project Manager.

  • Travel at times would be required including to Africa

Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • A university degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or related subject

  • At least 3 years of experience in a sales or business development role

  • Proven results in meeting sales target

  • Ability to network and make new business contacts that can turn into actual sales

  • Good knowledge of complete business winning lifecycle, including capture, qualification and developing capture plans and win strategies

  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise multiple, simultaneous activities

  • Excellent communicator with strong planning and delivery orientation

  • Commercial / financial / business acumen

  • Able to build relationships with colleagues and work cooperatively with  others to achieve goals

  • Excellent written and spoken English

The following skills would be highly desirable:

  • Experience from an insurance environment.

  • Background Climate, Meteorological, Agriculture business, Earth Observation or GIS knowledge

  • Proven track record in the development business for the space sector

  • Experience of working with international development or aid organisations and non-governmental organisations.

  • Experience  of working with European space related institutions and industry

 

Preference will be given to candidates eligible for an EU or national personal security clearance at the level of SECRET or above.
