You will have the opportunity to provide technical support in the area of propagation and associated algorithms design, in particular for ionosphere effects on GNSS signals and associated SBAS processing. This position is based in Toulouse, France.  

Tasks and Activities
  • Support to the coordination and critical assessment of all propagation and associated design related issues within EGNOS Project Office including algorithm assessment and recommendations

  • Support to the animation of an international technical subgroup (e.g. contributing to IWG Technical Subgroup) related to GNSS and Ionospheric modelling and processing (e.g. for iono gradients and scintillations)

  • Participation and contribution to multi-modal (e.g. Aviation, Maritime) GNSS standardisation groups for what concerns propagation effects modelling and processing (e.g. scintillation, multipath)

  • Support to the management of several R&D projects related to GNSS related propagation (e.g. MONITOR, Multi-path Studies, Interference mitigation)

  • Support to the preparation and validation of ionospheric model data and delivery to EGNOS V2/V3/Evolutions Contractor(s)

  • Support the coordination with TEC support with respect to propagation related subjects:

    • modelling of the navigation propagation signals using state-of- the-art software tools and databases

    • modelling of ionospheric propagation conditions and their effects on SBAS satellite navigation missions

  • Support the definition of campaigns to serve R&D and other EGNOS project needs (e.g. for scintillation monitoring)

  • Assist the Head of EGNOS Systems Engineering Section with the planning and execution of R&D activities as well as in managing the necessary software tools and databases related to IONO modelling and processing

  • Supporting several projects, the service provider will be involved in project reviews for EGNOS (e.g. V2/V3 system and subssytem reviews at algorithm level)

Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • You have a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, physics or Computer science with proven knowledge and experience in the fields of Algorithms, Navigation and related data.

  • You have a demonstrated knowledge and experience in EGNOS standards (e.g. MOPS/SARPS)

  • You have a demonstrated knowledge and experience in EGNOS integrity & continuity justification files

  • You have a demonstrated knowledge and experience in EGNOS system algorithmic performance related design & justification (in particular concerning propagation effects algorithmic solutions in SBAS)

  • You have a demonstrated knowledge and experience in GNNS signals and R&D projects

  • You have experiences in procurement of industrial activities.

  • You are fluent English language (oral and written);

  • You are autonomous in writing technical notes, specifications and reports in English;

  • You have good inter personal skills and team spirit;

  • You have previous working experience in a multinational environment;

  • You have good knowledge of MS office tools;

  • You have good knowledge of DOORs;

  • You are organized, you have a good practical sense, you are able to work effectively in a team and to autonomously take decision in his field of responsibility;

  • You are available and willing to travel for missions inside or outside Europe.

The following skills would be highly desirable:

  • You are fluent in French language oral


Preference will be given to candidates eligible for an EU or national personal security clearance at the level of SECRET or above.
