You will responsible for the creation, documenting, testing and validation of the OPS-SAT Experiment infrastructure.

Tasks and Activities
  • Study of the OPS-SAT specific on-board system on module (SoM) including all hardware and software interfaces with special attention to the Cyclone V FPGA
  • Support creating the infrastructure required to support OPS-SAT Experimenters using the SoM effectively, with special attention on how to integrate experiments into the Cyclone V FPGA.
  • Production of the technical documentation and procedures
  • Production of the training documentation 
  • Production of the necessary on-board  infrastructure in terms of software and  VHDL code to be used as a standard template for OPS-SAT experimenters 
  • Production of the necessary ground infrastructure to test and validate experiments on the ground before loading to the spacecraft
  • Production of some example experiments to prove the concept and to use as guides for OPS-SAT experimenters
  • Participation in the System Validation Tests (SVT) Programme
  • Participation in the in-flight commissioning operations
  • General Support in Experimenter co-ordination and technical support
  • General Flight Control Support Service
Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • You have a Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline
  • You have experience in programming FPGAs
  • You have experience in embedded programming 
  • You have experience in activities applicable to spacecraft operations
  • You are fluent in English, both speech and writing
  • You have experience in the coordination with other service providers in operations (team player)
  • You are able to work independently

The following skills would be highly desirable:

  • You are familiar with the ESOC environment
  • You have experience in producing technical documentation
  • You have some experience dealing with external interfaces to technical customers
  • You are familiar with the OPS-SAT mission
  • You have previous experience with Altera FPGA programming - especially Cyclone V
  • You have previous experience with embedded programming on the OPS-SAT MityARM SoM
  • You have previous experience with embedded programming on ARM-9 processors


Preference will be given to candidates eligible for an EU or national personal security clearance at the level of CONFIDENTIAL or above.
