Marie – Recruiter

Marie is a Recruiter for RHEA Group, based at the RHEA Headquarters in Wavre, Belgium. She was originally hired as a Junior Recruiter in 2019.

How long have you worked at RHEA?

I joined RHEA in October 2019, so 2½ years ago – time really flies when you are having fun!

I was hired as a Junior Recruiter and then received a lot of training and support from my team members, which allowed me to grow in my role and gain experience and responsibility.

Before joining RHEA, I studied neuropsychology because I was fascinated by the complexity of how our brain works.

What does your job involve?

As a Recruiter, I am in charge of the whole recruitment process, from the client’s definition of their needs when a new position is opening up, right up to successfully filling the position. This means that I am responsible for advertising those positions, implementing sourcing strategies, interviewing and qualifying candidates, drafting offer letters, negotiating salaries, preparing candidates for technical interviews, answering HR-related queries, liaising with RHEA Group’s Service Managers and Business Unit Managers, ensuring ‘closure’ of the positions and doing onsite deployment follow-up.

I love the contact and the relationship I build with my candidates. It is a great feeling when you meet ambitious and passionate engineers who are eager to join RHEA, and when you are the person who can accompany them in this process.

What makes you want to get up for work each morning?

The fact that I never really know how my day is going to turn out – no matter how much I plan or prepare myself! There are so many unexpected turns of events that we need to accept and work with, and this makes our job very exciting.

How does your role make a difference to RHEA’s success?

As a recruiter, I work with internal and external clients to search and find the best new team members. The commitment of the Recruitment team has a direct impact on the quality of the teams that we are building internationally within RHEA Group.

How does RHEA encourage you to live its values of Trust, Collaboration and Commitment?

Those values are implemented on a daily basis within our Recruitment team. We need to be fully committed to each position and each candidate we work with. Collaboration and support between our team members and with our stakeholders also plays a key role in our success. Of course, trust must remain at the centre of our work, along with respect and integrity, which we owe to our candidates and collaborators.

What are your aspirations for the future?

For now, I am very happy to develop as a Recruiter: to gain experience and knowledge. I truly enjoy working with my team, and I know there are possible career paths within the Recruitment team. So if anything, I’d like to grow within my role and get more responsibilities and projects over time.

Since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by everything space-related, especially in films. In my work today, I keep finding this sector so diverse, broad, complex and interesting!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have a passion for travel, so I cannot wait for the pandemic to go away! I love to go out in Brussels, meet with friends and family, and discover new places and restaurants. When the weather allows in Belgium, I am always up for a long hike in the countryside. But I also truly enjoy a good night in, reading or watching my favourite shows.

Tell us something unusual about yourself

Many colleagues think I am Belgian, but I was actually born in Luxembourg, grew up there and still have Luxembourgish nationality.
