Nicolas Vincent of RHEA Group

Nicolas – Vice-President for Czech Republic and France

Nicolas is Vice-President for Czech Republic and France, and General Director for RHEA Group’s French subsidiary RHEA Groupe France.

How long have you worked at RHEA?

I joined RHEA Group during Summer 2020, but looking back it feels like I have been working here for many years.

Where are you based?

Although my home office is in Toulouse, as you can imagine I travel regularly to Prague, Paris, Wavre [RHEA Group headquarters in Belgium] and Nice [headquarters of RHEA Groupe France] to meet with my teams, RHEA Group management and colleagues from other regions.

Is this the role you were initially employed for?

I joined RHEA as Business Manager for Czech Republic and France. Now, with RHEA’s new regional focus, I am Vice-President for the same two regions.

For the Czech Republic, our focus is to manage the contracts we have with the European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUPSA), whose headquarters is in the beautiful city of Prague. EUSPA is now one of the two main customers for RHEA Group along with ESA. In France, with the recent creation of the 100% RHEA-owned entity RHEA Groupe France, I am very honoured and motivated to have been nominated as its General Director.

What does your job entail?

In simple terms, my role is to manage the day-to-day successes and address any difficulties by supporting the Operational and Business Development teams at various levels. Our Service Management team is now well structured and high performing thanks to Julien, Mohand, Eva, Emeline, Nikos, Jana and Elodie. Many thanks to them!

RHEA Groupe France is a new entity, so with my “commando team”, fully supported by our colleagues from Business Services, we are structuring the company alongside striving to capture our first contracts – which is a nice challenge!

What makes me want to get up for work every morning? The challenge of managing so many diverse topics, from operational and business aspects to HR, legal, finance, quality, security….

How do you make a difference to the success of the company?

My expertise, network and knowledge acquired from more than 25 years in the space industry, both at manufacturing and service levels…. The space world is growing, but it is still a small one!

How does RHEA encourage you to live its values of trust, collaboration and commitment?

Rapidly after joining RHEA Group, I discovered how much these values are fully represented in our company. After a few months, during the second period of [pandemic] confinement, I managed a major offer for the renewal and extension of our service support contracts. The challenges were to ensure as a minimum the continuity of engineering and security activities for a team of about 65 experts already in place at EUSPA and the European Commission (EC).

I have been really impressed by the full commitment and collaborative spirit of all my colleagues: not just the bid team but also the supporting teams, including all the experts working in EUSPA. The resulting successes a few months later were a real demonstration that for our customers EUSPA and the EC, RHEA is really a trusted partner – and will remain so for the next 4 years to come!

I really enjoy meeting and working with colleagues, partners and customers. We are very fortunate to work in a high technology environment that is also so ‘passionate’.

Tell us a bit about you. What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am married, with two children who are increasingly living their own lives now. I love to play golf and, since a few months ago, Padel – my New Year’s resolution for 2022 was a promise to find more time to practice. And I also like to watch rugby from my sofa (as does every Toulousain!).

Tell us something unusual about yourself?

I have always loved comics and when I joined RHEA, I took advantage of my first weekend in Wavre to visit the Hergé Museum, based in Louvain-la-Neuve, a few kilometres away. It was very interesting!
