Sara from RHEA Group

Sara – Senior Travel Coordinator

Sara is based at RHEA’s headquarters in Wavre, Belgium. She joined the company in 2021 as RHEA’s Senior Travel Coordinator.

What did you study and why?

I studied Tourism and Recreational Management in Brussels with the idea that I would be able to travel all around the world while working. While I have not quite seen the entire world, I have had the opportunity to visit some amazing destinations.

What does your job involve?

I manage all business travel bookings for employees from the French and Czech Republic business units, whether for training or mission purposes, as well as bookings for the Operations team. On top of that, I am the contact person for all RHEA employees when it comes to questions about health and safety procedures and formalities related to travel.

I also act as an intermediary to resolve any travel-related issues that might arise and I am the primary contact for suppliers (such as our travel agent, airlines and hotels), managing and negotiating any contracts with them.

What is your favourite aspect of your job, and why?

At the risk of giving a clichéd answer, I love that every day is different; some days I am organizing straightforward European flights, but other days I have to book flights to destinations that I have to Google because I haven’t heard of them! My favourite part is getting in touch with someone after they arrive at their destination and hearing how the trip went, and then using that information to create a better travel experience for all RHEA employees.

What makes you want to get up for work each morning?

Knowing I make a difference in the day-to-day lives of our employees when they travel.

How does your role make a difference to the success of the company?

My work experience and education in the travel industry gives me a unique perspective and added value to what I do within RHEA.

I always have been, and always will be, fascinated by everything space related, and I feel blessed to be part of this exciting sector. Even though my role does not involve space, I am lucky enough to be in contact with some of our industry’s brightest minds and to assist them in getting safely to their missions and back.

What are your aspirations for the future?

I hope to continue to improve the travel policies we have in place and make sure that our employees have the best travel experience possible.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Whenever I can, I try to travel (surprise, surprise!) – my top three destinations (so far) are Botswana, Mexico and Vietnam. When I am not travelling, I enjoy going for walks or bike rides with my husband and 2-year-old son, or baking something sweet and tasty on a rainy afternoon.

Tell us something unusual about yourself

I have a Belgian mum and a Moroccan dad, but did not take my first trip to Morocco until I was 28 years old. On my first trip to Marrakech, I met the man who is now my husband and it was love at first sight. He joined me in Belgium not long after.
