Ulrich from RHEA Group

Ulrich – Service Performance Engineer

Ulrich is a Service Performance Engineer at the Galileo Reference Centre in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, moving into the GNSS world after studying Aerospace Engineering.

What did you study and why?

I did a degree in Aerospace Engineering and chose to specialize in onboard systems, which is how I moved into the GNSS world. I then did an MSc in GNSS at ENAC in Toulouse, France.

What does your job involve?

I support the technical follow-up of the Galileo Reference Centre (GRC) and Service Evolution activities regarding the implementation of the monitoring capabilities for the different Galileo and other GNSS services, the definition of the associated reporting and the validation of the GRC monitoring capabilities.

It is great to have the chance to work on such an exciting and large-scale project as the Galileo system. I learn something new every day.

In what way does your role makes a difference to the success of RHEA?

In the team, we each have a specific background and experience, so we complement each other. My contribution is my programming skills and knowledge of EGNOS and space weather effects on GNSS systems.

What made you want to work in this sector?

Like my predecessors, I would like to bring my name and my contribution to the space world in general and Galileo in particular.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have two passions: football and singing – I am a gospel choir master.
